Senior Generator Design Engineer

Core responsibilities

§ To perform mechanical system and component design engineering for Hydro Generators. Ensure compliance with Voith Hydro standards/guidelines and customer specifications. Ratio 60%/40%.

§ Produce technical documentation in mechanical design of generator products including the finite elements analysis and analytic analysis of the mechanical components.

§ Understanding and defining the quality requirements for each components as necessary NDT levels

§ Investigate, analyze and solve a variety of challenging and unique engineering challenge within the engineering team.

§ Review of engineering documentation and support the development of the Eng. team.

§ Internal coordination and support of operating unit and functional departments in project management, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, field service and commissioning. External communication to customer and sub-supplier. Lead technical discussions.

§ Support site during erection of the project.

§ Consideration of schedule, eng. hours and during the component/project execution.

§ Basic check of the electrical and ventilation design

§ Support the project management team during design liaison or other customer meetings.

§ Ability for domestic and international travel to other operating units, customer or site.

§ Support global initiatives in VH.

 

Professional Experience & Education

§ Master's degree, subject to Mechanical Engineering

§ At least 3 years of experience in structural analysis

§ Desirable experience in hydro generator design.

§ Fluent English both in writing and speaking

§ Skilled in documentation with MS office 365 and SAP

§ Skilled in finite element analysis desirable with Cadfem Ansys.

§ 2D/3D CAD SolidEdge or similar

§ Knowledge about fatigue assessment of non-welded and desirable welded components
