Design Engineer

Responsibilities include:Works closely with Sales/Marketing/Product Management in evaluating new product ideas and developing technical specifications. Assists in preparation of project proposals for management.Leads or participates in new product development projects from Initial Design to Product Launch. Works in a team environment to complete project deliverables on schedule and to specifications.Creates innovative designs that satisfy customer needs and provides unique benefits while viable to the company. Design new components and products in accordance with sound engineering principles, customer specifications, and industry requirements. Develops the Engineering database as required to accomplish the above activities. Creates drawings, procedures and bills of materials for new products. Prepare cost and schedule estimates models for assigned projects. Works with supplier management and quality assurance groups to maximize manufacturability. Assist in qualifying new vendors as required for new product development. Assists suppliers in understanding product requirements.Builds prototypes and conducts product performance tests for evaluation and compliance to specifications and standards. May perform other special projects or duties as required.Education:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Experience in Pressure Relief Valves is not required but considered a plusResults oriented with good project management, organizational, prioritization, and team-based skills.Independent mechanical design and analysis work of various components and assemblies. Perform thorough competitive analysis with teardown, literature search, etc.Identify cost out opportunities and lead value engineering and value analysis projects of current products as assigned. Document significant project records/results and technical work in reports. Action oriented with the ability to work in a fast paced. RELATING TO THE POSITIONAt least 3 years working experience in the field of mechanical design.Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining methodologies, and practices.Able to communicate in spoken and written English.Familiar with design rules, codes and industry standards for valves, pressure vessels and mechanical components. RELATING TO THE TOOLSProficient in Microsoft Office suites.Proficient in 3D modeling design package.Knowledge of nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS or equivalent is preferred.Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) study is preferred.
